In the afternoon of April 26th, World Intellectual Property Day, Beijing Culture and Entertainment Law Society organized the 5th "Entertainment Law Talk". Tim Meng, the Managing partner of GoldenGate Lawyers, was invited to participate in the event as the keynote speaker and gave a speech on "The New Development of the Fair Use Doctrine in the U.S. from the Google Case".

 

The main content of Tim’s speech are:

 

 

From the perspective of comparative law, Tim gave a comprehensive and systematic introduction to the basic concepts, historical development, and relevant treaty provisions of the Fair Use Doctrine. At the same time, Tim also analyzed the Google vs Oracle case, which was recently settled, extracted the key points of the case, and made a prediction on the trend of the U.S. "Fair Use Doctrine". On this basis, combined with his own experience, he proposed practical guidance on the key points of unfair use in Chinese copyright law, as well as its application in practice.
