In order to further enhance the overseas intellectual property protection and dispute response capabilities of enterprises, help them make full use of intellectual property strategies to participate in international competition, and support outward-oriented enterprises in their efforts to go global, Sunny Guo, a partner at Beijing GoldenGate Intellectual Property Agency Co., Ltd., was invited to participate in a training activity where she conducted training for enterprise representatives and service institutions. The activity, held in 2023, aimed to enhance overseas intellectual property dispute response capabilities of foreign-related enterprises. It was organized by the Beijing Intellectual Property Public Service Center and co-organized and co-sponsored by the Beijing Zhaihai Intellectual Property Research Institute, the Beijing Intellectual Property Judicial Protection Research Association, and the Beijing Digital Trade Association.

On September 7, 2023, the training focused on the theme of Trademark Layout and Preemptive Registration Risk Prevention in Southeast Asia”. The speaker provided a detailed introduction to risk assessments before applying for trademarks in Southeast Asia, referencing layout data from benchmark companies, choosing application routes, considerations during the application process, maintenance after application, and factors to consider when laying out trademarks in the region. From multiple angles and aspects, the training offered strategies for foreign-related enterprises to prevent and respond to trademark preemptive registration or infringement in Southeast Asia.


In addition, the speaker also imparted her in-depth knowledge of customs protection in major Southeast Asian countries. According to statistics released by the State Council Information Office based on customs data, ASEAN, which was Chinas second-largest trading partner at the end of 2019, surpassed the European Union to become China’s largest trading partner by the end of 2020. The volume of Made in China and “Chinese-branded goods in Southeast Asian foreign trade has been growing year by year. Implementing effective customs protection strategies can provide significant assistance to outward-oriented enterprises in their international expansion endeavors.
