INSIGHTS INTO MADRID TRADEMARK SYSTEM PRACTICE

In the context of globalization, how Chinese enterprises carry out overseas trademark layouts, protect their own brand rights, and prevent malicious preemptive registrations by others has become increasingly important!

Trademark protection follows the principle of territoriality, meaning that a trademark registered and effective in China does not automatically receive protection in other countries or regions. If an enterprise wants to obtain trademark protection in other countries or regions, it needs to register the trademark locally. An overseas strategy for an enterprise’s trademarks requires advance planning, comprehensive layout, prioritizing brand development before product launches, and paying attention to the selection and enforcement of trademark rights.

To help enterprises avoid potential issues before going global, GoldenGate will soon launch a series of six premium online courses. These courses will mainly focus on how to layout overseas trademarks, covering introductions to trademark registration systems and application techniques in the United States, the European Union, and key countries in Southeast Asia. The courses will provide a comprehensive analysis of strategies for overseas trademark layout and risk prevention. The second session of the series, Insights into Madrid Trademark System Practice”, will premiere this Saturday, 10 April 2021, at 8 PM. Subsequent courses will be rolled out progressively, so please stay tuned!
