“What’s past is prologue.”

—The Tempest, Playwright, William Shakespeare

Greetings!

As we enter the year of the Loong, we are all expecting Spring’s swift return: Lands with light-green coverings, kites soaring in the sky, flowers in the colors of rainbow, and kids skipping and jumping with joy and laughter. The cycle of the four seasons’ changes always displays spectacular scenes while our lives go on.

In this issue of China IP and Entertainment Law Update, we would like to share some legislative updates in patent and trademark laws and practices, Geographical Indication (GI), and the progress on protecting minors’ rights in regulating the gaming industry. The landmark cases involving the successful enforcement of the “Lego” works and the heritage brand of French wine both show heavy strikes in the protection of IPRs by the authorities.

We hope that our efforts will bring you a good start to a fruitful career year!
