Profile

Frank has been a partner with GoldenGate Law Firm since 2011, where he also serves as head of the firm’s patent department.

As a CN qualified patent attorney with nearly 30 years’ experience in the profession, Frank has extensive experience across all aspects of patent drafting and prosecution, patent enforcement, and portfolio management, both in China and internationally. He also has great experience of hearings at the CNIPA and Chinese courts of different levels.

Frank works with a large number of direct clients in the CN, mainland Europe, and USA in a wide variety of different technical fields such as electronic circuits, electrical and electronic engineering, control/monitoring systems, information and communication technology, analytical/measurement systems, data recording mediums, semiconductor fabrication, and LED lighting. He enjoys building close connections with his clients, building long-lasting relationships to fully understand their technology developments and commercial applications, and enabling holistic solutions to complex patent issues.

Frank is an active member of the AIPPI, All-China Patent Attorneys Association, Beijing Lawyers Association, and INTA. He has been engaged as a patent counsel for the China Advanced Semiconductor Industry Innovation Alliance since 2015.

• Represented a world leading EP company in a patent administrative case before Beijing IP court.
• Represented a world leading hearing instruments EP company in the filing, prosecution, and/or reexamination of all of its patent applications in China.
• Represented a Chinese plaintiff in patent infringement cases before a number of intermediate courts in different provinces.
• Represented a major Chinese LED R&D organization in the filing and prosecution of all of its Chinese and overseas patent applications.
• Represented a major Chinese company engaged in electrical automation in the filing and prosecution of all of its Chinese and overseas applications.
• Represented a major US company engaged in electrical and electronic design before the Patent Reexamination Board (PRB) as petitioner in the invalidation of a patent relating to image processing.
• Represented a Hong Kong company before the PRB as petitioner in the invalidation of a patent relating to a printing technology and before Beijing No. 1 Intermediate Court as a third party in subsequent administrative actions.
• Represented a famous university in Beijing in the filing and prosecution of its Chinese and overseas patent applications.
• Represented a US multinational cable company in the filing and prosecution of its patent applications in China.
• Represented a major US computer company in the filing and prosecution of its patent applications in China.
